Spring cleaning: do you love it or hate it? I personally love it. When the days start to turn warmer I love to throw open the windows, toss away old junk and do a deep clean of the entire house.
Having a clean, de-cluttered home improves peace of mind and makes the whole house feel happy. When I let my house accumulate junk, old mail and dust bunnies, I don’t feel good about my life and myself. Plus, when my home is a mess, I don’t want to share it with others. We’ve all been there, right? But feeling bad about our selves and not sharing our home with our loved ones is not what a Life if Bloom is all about. So let’s roll up our sleeves, turn on a great playlist, grab a broom and get to cleaning.
MAKE YOUR OWN BATHROOM CLEANER
I prefer not to use harsh chemicals in my home if I can help it, and bathroom cleaners seem to be chalk-full of harsh chemicals. So few years ago I found this great DIY bathroom cleaner that works wonders on showers, tubs, glass shower doors and tiles.
DIY Bathroom Cleaner
- Heat ½ cup white vinegar in microwave for 60 seconds
- Pour into spray bottle
- Add ½ cup Blue Dawn dish soap
- Shake gently to mix
- Spray on surface, let it sit 1-2 hours
- Easily wipe away soap scum and rinse with water
If you’re like me, the thought of a whole house deep clean is a little overwhelming at first. I think to myself, Where do I start? So with the help of a few online guides from Better Homes and Gardens, Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia blog and Jessica Alba’s Honest Company, I put together my own Spring Cleaning Checklist.
Whether you look forward to scrubbing your home every spring, or it’s on your list of things that are The. Worst., spring cleaning can be easy and therapeutic, and is guaranteed to make your home feel happy. My free Spring Cleaning Checklist takes the guesswork out of the task so all you need is a great playlist, a pair of rubber gloves and a sweet cookie for a reward when you’re done.
Joie de vivre and happy spring cleaning,
