Here is some of what Audrey’s been up to lately:
Head circumference: 34 cm
Weight: 11 lbs. 13 oz.
Length: 61.5 cm
Audrey sleeps through the night. Yay! She usually has her last feeding between 9-10 p.m. and wakes up around 8 a.m. She’s been taking mid-morning naps around 10-11 a.m. for about 2-3 hours. Then she usually takes a 30 minute nap around 3-4 p.m. Her sleeping schedule is something I want to discuss with her pediatrician because I’m not sure if this is a good routine for her. She’s usually pretty grumpy by the end of the day and desperately ready for feeding and bedtime.
She still feeds every 2.5-3 hours during the day and that seems to work well. She’s so much more aware of her surroundings and she’s so curious that feeding time sometimes becomes playing time for her. Let’s just say she’s easily distracted these days.
I’m still pumping 3 times per day and have built up quite a stockpile. We recently had to buy a small deep freezer because our refrigerator freezer was full! We’ve talked about dropping her last feeding of the day and giving her a bottle instead, but we haven’t made the switch yet.
Audrey has recently discovered her feet. It’s so cute when she grabs for them and tries to put them in her mouth! These days everything within reach goes into her mouth, especially her own hands. She loves grasping and grabbing things, including my hair, but she hasn’t learned how to let go. Ouch! She hasn’t rolled over yet but she rolls from her back to her side really well, she just can’t get over her arms. We’re still working on it!
Audrey is still a fairly calm and go-with-the-flow baby. She smiles and tries to laugh with us. She’s curious about sounds and watches us as we move around the room. She likes to be with us and definitely prefers to be held. Audrey and her dad have the cutest “conversations” when he gets home from work. She loves to reach out and touch his faced while she makes cooing and gurgling noises. Dan is trying his best to get her to laugh but she hasn’t really figured out how to laugh yet. Sometimes she lets out a shriek that can pass for a laugh though.
Best baby finds:
I absolutely love The Beaufort Bonnet Company. Their stuff is so cute and so Southern! I really want to get a bonnet for Audrey. The downside is they’re a little on the pricey side.
Best moment this month:
Mother’s Day was this month and Dan made it really sweet for me. He made me breakfast and bought me a gift card for a massage. Having Audrey gave me a better perspective on motherhood and parenting so it was a much more meaningful holiday for me this year.
Audrey’s favorite things are:
Audrey’s favorite things are still Mom and Dad. However, she finds everything fascinating and worth exploring these days, especially if she can grab it and bring it to her mouth. She has a little bunny rattle that always helps to distract or pacify her, so that’s our favorite thing these days. 😉
Morning and nighttime routines:
In the mornings, I pick her up, change her diaper, feed her and let her play for a couple of hours. Sometimes I’ll give her a bath and get her ready for the day but sometimes I let her stay in her jammies until she wakes up from her nap.
Most evenings when Dan gets home we take a walk, eat dinner together, then Audrey spends some time with Dan while I shower or we all watch TV together, then I feed her and put her to bed. Every night before I lay her down in her crib Dan kisses her cheek and wishes her good night and then I do it. It’s special to us even though we know she’ll never know we’re doing it.
Mom and Dad’s favorite activities with Audrey:
We love going on walks together in the evenings. It’s good for Dan and I to catch up, Audrey likes to watch our faces and look around at the trees, plus we get to say hello to our neighbors if they’re out on their porches.
Dan likes to practice tummy time and rolling over with Audrey in the evenings. They also have their daily “chats” when he comes home. I just love when we can all three be together on the weekends. Family time is really my favorite time of the week.
