Audrey Joy is living up to her name… most of the time. Over the past month, she’s been trying lots of new foods, crawling like a champ and pulling up on Mom and Dad. Her smiley, cheery personality still shines most of the time but her inability to communicate and evolving sleeping habits have caused for some cranky days.
Check out what Audrey’s been up to this month:
How old is she: 10 months and 5 days.
How big is she: I don’t know exactly but I’m guessing she’s 16 lbs and about 28 inches long.
Sleeping: Audrey sleeps, on average 14.5 hours out of 24 hours. She takes two naps per day (morning and afternoon) and goes to bed around 8:30 p.m. It’s kind of perfect for me. I just hope it stays!
Eating: I’m down to breastfeeding once per day, first thing in the morning, and I pump three times per day. I’d really like to quit but may have to push through one more month because Audrey still dislikes her non-dairy formula. I’m going to try dairy and soy over this month to see if she’s becoming more tolerant. Otherwise, she eats three solids per day at mealtimes and she does really.
Milestones: Audrey’s Army crawl is looking a little more like a regular crawl these days, and she’s so fast. She’s pulling up on Mom and Dad a lot, mostly to a sitting position but sometimes she’ll push up to standing as long as she has something to hold onto.
Personality: Over the past month, Audrey’s personality has evolved a little as she’s become more independent. She’s still a sweetheart most days but there’s been a few days peppered in where she’s irritable, frustrated and finicky. I think it’s partly the inability to communicate her wants, likes and dislikes.
Best moment this month: We hired a babysitter for the first time this month so Dan and I could have a day date. Audrey did so well! It was a huge relief to me that 1) we found someone we trust to babysit her and 2) she took it all in stride without any meltdowns.
Audrey’s favorite things are: Climbing on Mom and Dad, rattle toys, bath toys, soft ball, toys that play music or make noise.
Any surprises this month: My only surprises, if you can call them that, are her rejection of powdered formula when I though she was making progress, and the few days that she’s skipped her afternoon nap. It throws me because I wonder if she’s hungry or tired, if this the new normal or if it’s just something that happened today. I never know!
Looking forward to: Christmas, of course! This is Audrey’s first Christmas and I’m excited to put up the tree and decorate the house. I can’t wait to see her reaction. I think she’s going to love the tree, the lights and presents. We’ll be traveling to South Dakota and Kansas City to see family for Christmas, and I’m really looking forward to that. I hope there’s snow! 🙂
